Can Counselling Help?

Often it can be hard to discuss your concerns and anxieties with those people closest to you for fear of upsetting them, or being judged. By talking to an experienced counsellor you will be able to talk about your worries without these fears. By talking to someone impartial it can often help to make things clearer to you, and enable you to decide what is right for you.

What can I expect from my counsellor?

An experienced counsellor will offer you a professional and confidential service and will listen to you without interrupting. They will not try to tell you what to do, or impose their thoughts or suggestions onto you. They will work with integrity and honesty.

How long will I need to come for counselling?

It is difficult to say how long you will need to go for counselling. It can vary from a few sessions to a few years. Generally you would discuss this with your counsellor at the first session and review it at regular intervals. You only need to come for as long as you feel it necessary. Counselling is a collaborative arrangement and requires that both you and the counsellor are committed to the work.

How will I know when I have had enough sessions?

Often you will just know! You may feel more confident, more sure about what you want from life, or you may just have discovered how you want to deal with a specific problem.
